WELSH MEDIA LAWYER PAMELA FORTE JOINS VOTING ACADEMY FOR THE BRIT AWARDS 2010

With X-Factor fever gripping the nation media lawyer Pamela Forte is set to do some music awards judging of her own.

For the second year running she will join the Voting Academy for the BRIT Awards which will celebrate its 30th Anniversary in 2010 with a landmark event at Earls Court, London on 16th February. The BRIT Awards is the biggest music awards show in the UK and the Voting Academy comprises 1000 individuals chosen from across the music industry including music critics, TV and radio producers and presenters, music publishers, artist managers, retailers and major and independent record labels.

Originally from Barry, Pamela Forte established Forte Law, Wales’only legal practice devoted exclusively to media law, two years ago. She advises on all aspects of media law and works with broadcasters, film and television producers and individual talent such as actors and writers as well as the music industry.

Although Pamela is a specialist visiting lecturer on Newport University’s Creative Sound and Music course and writes articles on music copyright issues, her first invitation to join the Voting Academy for the BRIT Awards in 2009 still came as a surprise.

Pamela said: “The BRIT Awards are special because they are awarded by the music industry itself. Members of the Voting Academy are chosen for their in-depth knowledge so I feel very honoured to have been invited to join the Voting Academy for a second year. It’s not easy to take time out of a hectic schedule to fulfil my voting responsibilities but it’s very enjoyable and a great reminder of what those music industry contracts are really all about!”
